Terra Alta Mediterranean mosaic

Beyond the steep mountain ranges that border the Terra Alta (Els Ports, Pàndols and Cavalls), the landscape of this region is predominantly agricultural, mainly vineyards, olive and almond trees, alongside managed forests, with a rich cultural heritage of dry stone architecture. This landscape mosaic, dotted with drystone cabins and terraces, is the ideal habitat for […]

Serra de Llaberia

With its rugged terrain, steep ravines and vertiginous escarpments, and wild Mediterranean landscape, the remote Sierra de Llaberia is difficult to access and little visited. This tranquil setting makes the sierra an important breeding area for rock birds of great interest. It also contains remarkable karstic formations such as rock shelters, caves, chasms and natural […]

Els Ports Natural Park: La Franqueta

From Horta de Sant Joan, an asphalted road (regulated at peak times) takes us into the Els Ports Natural Park, past the unmistakable silhouette of the Roques de Benet. Birds of prey can be seen flying over the cliffs, and birds of agricultural habitats can be seen in the fields. From the La Franqueta picnic […]

This natural oasis contains a great diversity of habitats (wetlands, reedbeds, riverside forests, river islands, etc.) with […]

Serres de Cardó – Boix

The Cardó and Boix mountain ranges contain spectacular cliffs, rock needles and escarpments, largely covered by forest including ancient trees like yew. This area is particularly attractive for migrating birds of prey, which share the airspace with various species of eagles and Mediterranean species.

Secans del Montsià drylands

These drylands are in fact a mosaic landscape of almond and olive groves (some of which are thousands of years old) on the remains of an ancient steppe plain. Typical dryland birds can be spotted here, as well as birds of prey due to an abundance of prey such as rabbits.

Audouin’s gull

Native to the Mediterranean, with a growing population in recent decades.

El Delta de l’Ebre Natural Park: La Tancada and Els Alfacs bay

La Tancada lagoon is the most saline in the Delta, with a very well-conserved salt marsh where flamingos are often seen. Close by, the Trabucador sandbar and beach are the access point to the large Els Alfacs bay and the Punta de la Banya peninsula, a real paradise (with restricted access) where countless birds nest […]
