There are unique treasures to be found along the length of the River Ebro. One of the least known, perhaps because of the greater fame of the Ebro Delta, is the Sebes and Flix Meander Wildlife Nature Reserve. This natural oasis contains a great diversity of habitats (wetlands, reedbeds, riverside forests, river islands, etc.) with great facilities for spotting birds, including the kingfisher and numerous migratory and wintering species.

When this is not possible, they are homed in the zoo, which also offers educational activities such as guided tours, bird of prey flying displays, experiences with owls and photographing birds in captivity.

The tours follow the delta’s labyrinth of paths, and combine birdspotting with explanations of features that go unnoticed by casual visitors: firework storage huts, drains, pumping stations, natural filters, traditional fishing methods, etc.
This initiative is based in an abandoned village that has now been restored for ecotourism, with photographers’ hides, photography courses and workshops and a rural home offering tourist accommodation (Casa Felip). The hides overlook a feeding station, allowing photographers to capture spectacular images of golden eagles, bearded vultures and other scavengers.
