Vall de Boí

The Boí Valley, known for its World Heritage Romanesque churches, is one of the main entry points to the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park and to forest and high mountain habitats that are home to rare birds. Several routes go through the National Park, but the Durro fauna route through forests and meadows, with great panoramic views, is especially recommended for birdwatchers, as is a visit to the Salencar de Barruera, a wetland area surrounded by mountains where migratory birds stop over.

BIRD

WATCHING

EXPERIENCES

There are many travel agencies, companies, organisations and professional guides in the Ebre-Secans-Pirineus corridor who have in-depth knowledge of the region and the bird species that can be observed and photographed

We advise you to take advantage of the services they offer to enjoy truly memorable birding experiences.

Projecte Oenanthe

The aim of this project, led by the Espais Naturals de Ponent association, is to convert old dry stone huts and shelters into observatories for wildlife, especially birds. So far, two structures have been restored with new viewing windows, one in Castellserà and the other in Preixana. Preserving cultural heritage through birdwatching tourism.

Buseu Project

This initiative is based in an abandoned village that has now been restored for ecotourism, with photographers’ hides, photography courses and workshops and a rural home offering tourist accommodation (Casa Felip). The hides overlook a feeding station, allowing photographers to capture spectacular images of golden eagles, bearded vultures and other scavengers.
