The River Segre is one of the most iconic natural features of La Seu d’Urgell, together with the Cadí mountain range. From the town centre of the capital of L’Alt Urgell, a popular (and almost completely flat) route goes to the Alàs bridge along both banks of the river. Although this riverside environment has been canalised, its biodiversity, including birdlife, is remarkable. Bird ringing and monitoring are regularly carried out along the river bank.

Rutes Muntanya offers half-day birdwatching tours in the Ebro Delta’s most representative habitats. The tours follow the delta’s labyrinth of paths, and combine birdspotting with explanations of features that go unnoticed by casual visitors: firework storage huts, drains, pumping stations, natural filters, traditional fishing methods, etc.
This foundation rescues mistreated or injured wild animals and, if possible, returns them to the wild.
