This steppe-like protected natural space, with its gentle landscapes and wide horizons, is the largest on Lleida plain, covering almost 10,400 hectares. It is a mosaic of barley and wheat fields, rows of olive and almond trees, holm oak copses, fallow and barren land, with scattered ponds and wetlands, and dotted with dry stone features (walls, huts, etc.). These habitats are an ideal, albeit very fragile, home for numerous steppe birds and birds of prey.
