This area contains a mix of cereal crops, barren and fallow land, with an area of naturalised wetlands where three bodies of water meet, resulting in a very diverse mosaic of habitats. The Utxesa reservoir is a unique refuge for more than 200 species of birds, both migratory and resident, and is especially notable for its population of reed-dwelling birds.

It offers several hides where photographers can observe birds of prey (in Torrebesses), the black wheatear (in Batea, Les Terres de l’Ebre), sparrowhawks (also in Batea) or aquatic birds (in Flix), as well as photography safaris in the Ebro Delta and the Secans de Lleida drylands.
