Ivars i Vila-sana Lake

This lake was drained in 1951 and restored at the beginning of the twenty-first century. At 126 hectares it is the largest inland lagoon in Catalonia. It is located in the heart of the Lleida cereal plains, making it a good location to spot both aquatic and steppe species. The restoration project included creating islands with different shapes, slopes and heights at a variety of locations throughout the lake to encourage birds and other animal species.

Projecte Oenanthe

The aim of this project, led by the Espais Naturals de Ponent association, is to convert old dry stone huts and shelters into observatories for wildlife, especially birds. So far, two structures have been restored with new viewing windows, one in Castellserà and the other in Preixana. Preserving cultural heritage through birdwatching tourism.
